Maggot Brain

Image
A strange tune with a strange title. Found this on a YouTube comment: "Eddie Hazel came in the studio one day, a little down in the dumps I guess. And George just put Eddie in the middle of the floor and surrounded him with marshall amps and he just let him cry his heart out. He told Eddie to play like his mother had died, and thats whatch u got outta that, that's Maggot Brain " - Gary Shider "Eddie is an emotional guy, as good as a singer he is. he didn't sing on any of the album cause he would get half way through the song and just start crying" - George Clinton

Roberta Flack Is Killing Me Softly With Smoove

Image
A short story about this song. On the way to a Blues festival me and my mom stopped at a greasy spoon for a bite to eat and they had a jukebox. Out of curiosity I walked over and seen this song and put in a few quarters and played it. I went and sat down and my mom was looking out the window, her eyes had that far away stare and then she said, "That's my favorite song". I said, "I know". "Fugees, eat your heart out" ~YouTube comment

Madman Across the Water

One of my favorite Elton John songs. This version has the killer guitar. It should be the only version allowed any airplay. This version has the violins do the lead ... boo!

Lost Due To Incompetence Skeewiff VS Yesca

Image
Hello, radio dispatch? -- Do you know who this is? -- No, who is "This Is"? Not a remix, a remake of "Lost Due To Incompetence". The song was originally done by a mysterious group called YESCA, featuring jazz saxophonist David Sanborn and was on the soundtrack of the very first Cheech & Chong movie, Up In Smoke. The original version: Nice guitar work too!

Crystal Method Adds BOOM to P O D

Image
BOOM -- Goes with coffee this morning. Crystal Method remix of a P.O.D. song. If you was like me and wondered what P.O.D. stands for, it is Payable On Death. This is the P.O.D. song without the Crystal Method. I think the Crystal Method put the BOOM into the song making it... stone funking cold!

The Ghetto Is Stone Cold

Image
I first heard this song at a juke joint in Clarksdale, Mississippi (Hopson's Commissary) in 2012 done by a dude named Jimbo Mathus and I didn't film it. Bummer too, because they rocked it out with the soul. Donny Hathaway would have been proud. I love finding some new groove, especially old groove. George Benson puts all that jazz into The Ghetto A newer version by Too $hort. Nice guitar work. #smoove Both, #stonefunkingcold

Brandon Fields - Bull Funking Cold
